摘要

Cutbacks in government spending have not shut down the defense industry, but are making politics even more a part of doing business. On the fighter front, the Lockheed Martin F-35 program is making progress in development-testing and cost-cutting, but remains under intense pressure to get closer to its affordability and capability targets. The U.S. is poised to increase production, and partners Australia, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Turkey and the U.K. have affirmed their commitments to the aircraft, but Canada and Denmark are still evaluating options. South Korea looks determined to buy F-35s this year.
