Demand across its product range is prompting GE Aviation to open a $56 million, 150,000-sq.-ft. factory for composite engine components in Ellisville, Miss., its second recent addition in that southern state. The company has not determined what components will be manufactured at the new site, which is north of Hattiesburg in the southern half of the state. But spokesman Rick Kennedy said Ellisville's output is expected to cross GE's civil and military product lines, including the Leap engine that will power the new-engine Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320NE0. Leap is a product of CFM International, a 50-50 joint venture of GE and Snecma.
