Honeywell is closely analyzing a pair of TPE331 engines on an aircraft flown through ash clouds over the U.K. as part of efforts to scientifically quantify the true impact of volcanic ash on aircraft engines.rnThe initiative comes as European operators, regulators and U.S. government officials call for research into the impact of volcanic ash particulates following the eruption of Eyjafjalla-jokull in Iceland. The volcano continues to disrupt European and North Atlantic air travel, and evidence presented at a recent hearing by the U.S. House Committee on Science and Technology's subcommittee on space and aeronautics puts resulting airline revenue losses to date at $1.7 billion.
