DeMarco is president and CEO of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, a 2,800-employee defense engineering services contractor that counts on-site weapons system sustainment as its biggest business. For him, the Defense Department's budget crunch is a simple equation. If the plug is pulled on development of a costly new weapons system, the platform it was supposed to replace will have to be kept running for years longer.
