Carlson is a professional aviation photojournalist and runs Southern California-based Fotodynamics.com. He also is a writer who has had hundreds of articles published worldwide. Carlson's work can be seen in the majority of previous photo contest issues, and he has been a contributor to AW&ST. His work also can be found worldwide in magazines, books, calendars, U.S. Defense Department publications and posters. Carlson's images have adorned more than 350 covers of various publications. He also has shot images for many large aerospace corporations and has flown with all branches of the U.S. military in about every type of aircraft, as well as with various agencies and several foreign air forces.
