摘要

The Obama administration favors a "worldwide ban on weapons that interfere with military and commercial satellites," but not on research into protecting valuable space assets or developing defenses against ballistic missiles. Shortly after President Barack Obama took office, his new White House web site posted a defense policy "agenda" that promised to restore U.S. leadership on space issues with a space-weapons ban, but went on to vow continued work on protecting space assets, including "the best options, military and diplomatic, for countering them, establishing contingency plans to ensure that U.S. forces can maintain or duplicate access to information from space assets and accelerating programs to harden U.S. satellites against attack."
