摘要

The strong resurgence enjoyed by turboprop makers is ebbing as lower fuel prices and airline problems augur a difficult period ahead. But even if activity is slowing, aircraft makers aren't giving up on their long-term plans. ATR is considering establishing a final assembly line in China to help drive demand. Meanwhile, Bombardier and ATR both are pressing ahead with new product developments. To ride out the crisis, ATR is curtailing production growth. The EADS/Finmec-canica joint venture is freezing monthly production levels at December 2008 rates-about 60 aircraft-to customers this year; earlier plans called for around 75 units. That still means revenue should increase in 2009, reaching around $1.4 billion from a record $1.3 billion the prior year, when the company delivered 55 tur-boprops, says ATR CEO Stephane Mayer. The strong euro, however, meant profitability was down from 2007 levels.
