The computer system in use since 1984 for checking in and boarding passengers at world airports has mutated into a complicated mess. In a rare collaboration, airlines, airports and system providers have come together to replace it.rnPilot trials are underway or are planned at a handful of terminals as a final step before a new standard is published, probably this summer, and the Common Use Passenger Processing Systems (Cupps) is readied for use across the globe. It is the product of four years' work involving 100 companies, 250 of their representatives and a growing list of providers.
