Climate change is one of the pressing issues of our time, one that impacts billions of lives and regional economies around the world. And while scientists are now better able to observe and forecast weather and climate changes, the Earth's dynamic system, increasing population, and changing demographics have madernpredicting long-term environmental trends more difficult.rnThis uncertainty complicates planning in industries sensitive to weather, such as aviation, energy, tourism, agriculture, emergency preparedness, water management, and insurance. It affects military operations, where weather plays a role in making tactical decisions to deploy troops, determine flight operations, and select the appropriate weapon for a given mission. And it has the potential to destabilize nations.
