摘要

One of the biggest surprises in AVIATION WEEK'S new Top-Performing Companies (TPC) results is that European companies sharply narrowed the competitiveness gap with their A&D counterparts in the U.S. (p. 48). But given the numerous structural and market challenges European companies continue to face, this year's TPC snapshot is more of an anomaly than a trend that can be sustained.rnA closer analysis of the study results reveals that the revenue-weighted median score of the European companies was lifted primarily by a 62% year-on-year improvement in EADS's score. Only one other company, Finmeccanica, showed improvement, and that was a meager 5%. All the other European companies in the TPC study saw their scores deteriorate, including BAE Systems (down 7%), Safran and Rolls-Royce (both down 40%) and Saab (down 70%). All-in-all, there is not much for European companies to brag about.
