Forced to effectively abandon the wide-body commercial aircraft sector, Moscow is attempting to secure and build a position in the narrow-body market using two programs-the Superjet 100 regional jetliner and the MS-21150-210-seat aircraft. The MS-21 is arguably the flagship civil aircraft program for Russia's United Aircraft Corp. (UAC). The project is intended to reinvigorate the country's design and manufacturing capacity in commercial aviation. The ambition is to have a competitive product in the global market that could challenge comparable Airbus and Boeing models.
