The World Trade Organization reportedly has ruled that European government loans to Airbus are no more than partly illegal and has dismissed 70% of the U.S. trade representative's complaints over aircraft subsidies. However, no details are yet available, as the WTO's 1,000-page preliminary ruling has not been made public, and a final ruling is not expected until 2010.rnAt this stage, we can only wait and hope that more information will soon be leaked. Enough is already known, though, to confirm that the ruling on the U.S. complaint, filed in 2005 on behalf of Boeing, appears to take a Solomonic approach. The Europeans have not been found guilty, but they are nonetheless believed to have violated some trade rules.
