In stark contrast to the gloom that has settled over much of business aviation this past recessionary year, Gulfstream Aerospace celebrated the rollout of the G650 business jet in Savannah, Ga., on Sept 29 andrnplanned to reconvene the party in Tel Aviv on Oct. 6 when the G250 makes its debut.rnWith a span and length of nearly 100 ft, a cabin 1.2 ft. wider and 3 in. higher than its predecessors', and an 8-pas-senger range of 7,000 naut mi., the flagship G650 is bigger, can travel farther longer and is morerntechnologically advanced than any previous model. And with a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925, it will be the world's fastest production civilian aircraft. First flight is expected before year-end. Jay L. Johnson, the new president and CEO of General Dynamics,rnGulfstream's parent, declared the G650 the "new gold standard" among business jets, one that "embodies what can be achieved" when American manufacturers set out to innovate.
