U.S. government officials havernbeen assured the delayed National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (Npoess) civil/military weather satellite constellation is finally on the path to recovery.rnThe progress report by Npoess lead contractor Northrop Grumman andrnteammate Raytheon was given to Assistant Commerce Secretary Dennis Hightower during a visit to Los Angeles last month. At the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Space 2009 conference in Pasadena in mid-September, Hightower said, "we have been assured that they are getting this program back on track."
