Sure that its aero engine overhaul lines were models of efficiency, StandardAero was shocked to discover that its cellular manufacturing strategy was full of bottlenecks. In a complete revision, the company uncorked them by recognizing that not all cells are created equal.rnThat insight is on display here as the company develops North America's first independent CFM International CFM56-7B maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) shop. Airlines may be in the doldrums, but to accommodate the new engine StandardAero will spend this winter adding another 27,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space to its Plant 6 here and settling into an 80,000-sq.-ft. addition to the same plant that it completed early last summer.
