Aviation turbine engine production, which is being driven by the continuing strength of the global aviation market, will exceed 11,000 units in 2009 and remain on that path until 2013, after which a slow decline is expected. Forecast International expects the market to produce 107,543 turbofan, turboshaft and turboprop engines, having a total value of $236.5 billion, from 2007-16. As impressive as these figures are, most of the major U.S. airlines have yet to begin fleet recapitalization, so there are still almost 1,000 aircraft and engines to power them that are expected to be ordered just to replace existing transports.
