Cessna is preparing to unveil the details of a large-cabin intercontinental aircraft that will expand its fast-growing business jet line into the super-midsize segment. The Wichita, Kan.-based airframer announced on Jan. 24 that the board of directors of parent company Textron had approved formal launch of the program, code-named Large Cabin Concept (LCC), saying it would disclose details in Washington on Feb. 6. Situated above Cessna's eight-seat Citation X and Sovereign models, the LCC is billed as a nine-passenger twinjet with a large lavatory and galley, advanced flight deck and headroom equivalent to that on the Gulfstream G450/G550 but with wider seats. Range will be around 4,000 naut. mi. and cruise, about Mach 0.86. Engines would be in the 8,000-10,000-lb.-thrust class.
