There are billions of euros at stake as Europe finalizes in the coming days how airlines will participate in Europe's emissions-trading scheme (ETS). But that's not the only major policy decision looming when it comes to reducing the industry's fuel burn and associated carbon dioxide output. Also on the agenda for Europe next month is whether to endorse a plan to move forward on the long-promised Single European Sky. European Union transport ministers are to meet Dec. 9, where the issue is on the agenda; Prance, which holds the rotating European Union presidency, is pushing for approval of the reform package, says French transport minister Dominique Bussereau.
