Sukhoi faces a tight timeframe in the coming months regarding the SuperJet regional aircraft, as it strives to meet an already delayed fall start to flight testing and even though only the first section of the aircraft has been built. The first SuperJet (formerly called the Russian Regional Jet) frame is slated to be completed in April and undergo static tests at the TsAGI research institute in Zhukovsky, near Moscow. Construction of the first flying prototype is expected to begin around the same time at the facility in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the Russian Far East.
