Investors looking to try their luck at turning around Alitalia have until the end of the month to express an intent to take a controlling stake in the troubled airline. In an effort to increase investor interest, the Italian government also has relaxed the terms under which it would sell the airline after prospective buyers signaled that initial requirements were too onerous. The government was hoping to ensure the Alitalia workforce would be largely preserved, and that the global-network carrier would not become merely a feeder service for another network carrier.
