The U.S. Defense Dept. and civilian agencies continue to increase the amount of money they are spending on information technology outsourcing, even though the pace of that growth has fallen off. Still, federal spending in this area is expected to increase 8% per year through 2010 in the latest forecast released by Input, a market research company in Reston, Va., that follows government information technology spending. In 2004, Input estimated growth would be as high as 13% per year over five years, but that expectation dropped to 8.4% the following year as the war in Iraq and deficits put downward pressure on the federal budget.
