摘要

The future attractiveness of Paris's big hub at Charles de Gaulle Airport could be in jeopardy, following a French government decision to boost fees 25% over the next five years, warns the International Air Transport Assn. IATA last week became the latest to voice disapproval over the hike, announced by French Transport Minister Dominique Perben earlier this month. Perben's decision, if it stands, will increase user fees at Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly, which are operated by airport authority Aeroports de Paris (ADP), by 5% per year between 2006-10. Perben argued the additional money is necessary to cover 2.5-billion-euro ($3-billion) in new investments planned at the Paris facilities. This includes two satellite terminals, a regional airline ter- minal, a new baggage handling system and a people mover at Charles de Gaulle, and continued renovation at Charles de Gaulle's Terminal 1 and Orly.
