When American Airlines recently announced plans for its long-haul fleet, at first glance the most spectacular news seemed to be cancellation of an Airbus A350 order inherited from the former US Airways. But given that American already operates the Boeing 787, it should have come as no surprise that it decided to walkaway from the A350 commitment, which would have very muchcomplicated its future widebody fleet composition.The real trouble, from Airbus' perspective,lay beyond this point.
