During the 15 years he spent as an Aviation Week reporter and editor, John Morrocco was regarded by his colleagues as knowledgeable, measured, affable and generous. He was also a superb aerospace journalist. Joining Aviation Week & Space Technology in 1986 as a Washington-based military editor, Morrocco won praise from the Forbes Media Guide for "some of the most penetrating work on post-Cold War planning and procurement" and his "near-perfect" coverage of the 1990-91 Persian Gulf war. He was promoted to head Aviation Week's European coverage from London, where he worked closely with the magazine's legendary Paris bureau chief, Pierre Sparaco. In 2001, he traded in his reporter's notebook for a job at Boeing, spending 16 years in senior communications roles and continuing to be a sought-out figure at major air shows and conferences.
