Acrewmember who recognizes an unusual aircraft attitude has to make a clear callout, such as "upset." The crew then makes recovery-restoring the aircraft to the desired flight state-the highest priority. How can it be ensured the crew will make the right control inputs?Imminent publication by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) of a rule that will mandate upset prevention and recovery training (UPRT) in a pilot's initial instruction manual signals the culmination of two decades of discussions in the industry. The requirement is now expected to take effect in January. The schedule, as well as the content are in the final stages of definition.
