Air cargo operators are looking forward to volume continuing to expand in 2019, with e-commerce, Pharmaceuticals and perishables-the sectors driving strong demand-still in the spotlight. But there are some clouds on the horizon.Airlines are tailoring their capacity to meet growing demand to deliver fashion and electronics to online shoppers, safely transport temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals from rapidly expanding production regions such as India and meet demand for fresh fish, flowers and produce from Latin America and Africa.But they are closely monitoring geopolitical issues that could affect the world economy and thus the air cargo industry: U.S.-China trade tensions, a possible hard Brexit, currency volatility and high fuel prices could all harm their businesses.
