Expect the number of new transport aircraft deliveries to grow consistently over the next decade, with 2019 being a unique year for fleet changes. Why? While aircraft manufacturers are scheduled to deliver about 2,100 aircraft, a very robust number-only about 500 should be retired from the existing fleet and 300 are coming out of storage and returning to service, according to Aviation Week's 2019 Commercial Fleet & MRO Forecast.In subsequent years, the drumbeat of deliveries will continue, but the retirement rate will increase to 750 in 2020 and then climb steadily until 2024. The number of stored aircraft expected to return to service will fall off dramatically after 2020.
