摘要

Progress in consumer electronics and the newly established culture of social network communications is pointing airframers to new ways to address flight safety. Airbus is using tools such as short videos to provide pilots with useful reminders, sometimes tackling surprising knowledge gaps. A smartphone app is helping pilots and safety officers share tips, even if they work for different airlines and without having to wait for the next Plight Safety Foundation conference. The new approach is seen as anaddition to conventional training and safety procedures, with the hope that it will suit a generation of pilots accustomed to swift interaction and general-picture information. It may also help mitigate the fast growth of air traffic in countries with substandard pilot training or little aviation culture. Airbus has decided on ways to improve safety more quickly and pragmatically than with an aircraft modification.
