The executives at Frontier Airlines are feeling good about an antici- pated 35% growth of capacity over the next year, chiefly in new Airbus aircraft, that is taking the reborn western carrier into some hotly contested domestic markets. Frontier earned its way into the national marketplace by performing well against rival United Airlines at Denver International Airport, said Sean Menke, senior vice president for marketing. "There used to be a cordial competitive environment when the economy was doing well, but now everybody is fighting for every passenger. We used to be the spill carrier when fares were high. Over the last year, we have become the carrier of choice."
