CFM International executives, while anticipating a significant upturn in civil transport deliveries over the next few years, are nevertheless erring on the side of caution as they plan a slow increase in production. To prepare for the next-generation single-aisle twinjets, General Electric and Snecma Moteurs (CFMI's parent companies) are expected within the next three year to begin developing an all-new engine that would replace the CFM56 series. If launched in 2008, the powerplant would be available for a 2012 service entry, according to Pierre Fabre, CFMI's chief executive.
