The future of DBA, one of the largest European no-frills carriers and a major competitor of Lufthansa in its home market, looks increasingly uncertain, following EasyJet's decision not to acquire the airline from parent British Airways. Last week's announcement by Easy-Jet came as no surprise and marked the end of lengthy negotiations with management and particularly with pilots on how to strike a deal. EasyJet had paid a total of 8.9 million euros ($9.3 million) for the option in May 2002.
