France has major plans for its fleet of Dassault Rafale fighters, which are flown by its air force and navy. Described as an "omni-role" platform by Dassault, the aircraft performs air defense and ground attack as well as the nuclear strike mission with the ASMP-A standoff supersonic missile. Over the coming years, the Rafale will undergo a series of upgrades to add capabilities, weapons and new electronic-warfare systems and to improve its networking abilities.
