摘要

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), having rebounded from disruptive pilot strikes just before the summer peak season, is eyeing incremental growth opportunities while also recognizing a bigger-picture need to satisfy the growing demand for more environmentally friendly operations. The Stockholm-based carrier flew 2.96 million passengers in June-a record for the 73-year-old airline. It followed up with 2.84 million passengers in July-its best July ever. The marks were particularly notable coming off a weeklong strike that ended May 2, after cancellation of more than 4,000 flights. Pilots and the carrier struck a three-year deal, allowing executives to shift more of their focus to operational challenges and opportunities. All carriers must juggle their schedules and fleet to cope with seasonal demand shifts, but SAS' challenge is greater than most. In calendar year 2018, its top traffic month of July saw it fly 88% more revenue passenger kilometers than its low month of January.
