Piaggio Aerospace is up for sale after Italy's economic development ministry agreed to a timetable to restart production of the P.180 Avanti turboprop, finalize development of the P.1HH Hammerhead unmanned aircraft and deliver two systems to the Italian Air Force. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan warned on April 30 the F-35 program would "collapse" if the U.S. follows through on threats to withhold the fighter from its NATO ally over its decision to buy Russia's S-400 air defense system. Saudi Arabia has ended a five-year partnership with Antonov to develop and produce the An-132D, an improved version of the An-32 transport. Kiev, Ukraine-based Antonov is looking for other partners. Egypt reportedly has opted to purchase 20-30 Leonardo AW149s to meet requirements for a shipborne tactical transport and assault helicopter.
