The Boeing F-15EX made its first flight from St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Feb. 2. The test aircraft, EX1, is the first of up to 144 new-build aircraft for the U.S. Air Force (page 46). The Russian Air Force received its first production Sukhoi Su-57 from United Aircraft Corp. on Jan. 29, after the first fighter off the line was lost in a crash during a test flight in December 2019. Spirit AeroSystems-led Team Mosquito has been awarded $41 million to demonstrate by 2023 a low-cost unmanned combat aircraft that could operate as a loyal wingman for UK manned fighters (page 36). France has ordered 12 additional Rafale F3R fighters from Dassault for delivery to the air and space force in 2025 as replacements for 12 aircraft sold secondhand to Greece’s air force (page 49).
