Airlines will come out of the pandemic with a heavy debt load. How is the industry changing structurally? The airline industry has lost everything they earned since World War Ⅱ-all the profits are gone. And if it was not for government support in the form of guarantees, equity, loans, all kinds of medicine, the airline industry would have been crippled. The balance sheets of airlines today compared to 18 months ago are vastly different. Many have mortgaged everything they've got-planes, slots, airport terminals, ground facilities or frequent-flyer programs. Airlines more than ever need third parties such as the leasing community to be able to continue this fleet modernization and replacement. At the end of last year, we crossed that threshold where more than 50% of the aircraft are leased. That is a huge change from even five years ago. We continue to see leasing [as] a much more critical part of the industry to finance expensive capital goods.
