With a follow-on order from Egypt and a competition win in Croatia, Dassault's Rafale appears to be enjoying a second wind in the export market. The successes have come just months after Greece confirmed it would also purchase the fighter and French Defense Minister Florence Parly said Indonesia is in advanced negotiations to buy up to three squadrons of the aircraft. Croatia's decision nonetheless came from left field. France's offer of 12 secondhand Rafales-10 single-seaters and two twin-seaters priced at €999 million ($1.2 billion)- beat out a U.S. offer for new-build F-16 Block 70s, Israel's repeat offer of secondhand F-16C/Ds and a Swedish proposal for new Gripen C/Ds.
