Opening my digital issue, I came across Joe Anselmo's article on CM. Plattner ("Exonerated," July 12-25, p. 9). Growing up as an aviation-loving teenager in Argentina in the mid 1970s, I found a treasure trove of 10-year-old magazines. That was my introduction to Aviation Week. I was transfixed reading all of them (way before the World Wide Web), but I still remember the deep impact from some of Mr. Plattner's Vietnam reports of 1966. Man, that was awesome! Such detail, and even at that early age I could feel how important the articles were. And on top of that, he was a mathematician, Marine pilot, sitting at the controls of an A-1E after a mission. Now, that was a dream job! I'm so glad Mr. Plattner is still around, and I can't wait to get his book. Thank you for a wonderful memory.
