Lockheed Martin is using flight test data to validate models leading to design and development of an elec-trohydrostatic flight control system for production versions of the Joint Strike Fighter. The "power by wire" initiative is part of the company's JSF Preferred Weapons System Concept proposal submitted to the Defense Dept. last month. Dennis Eicke, program manager for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co.'s JSF Integrated Subsystems Technology (JIST) initiative, said a "refined version" of the electrohydro-static (EHD) flight control system would be installed in production JSFs if Lockheed Martin wins the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) contract later this year.
