Fractional aircraft ownership providers are relying on increasingly complex software programs to orchestrate their growing operational requirements as jet fleets continue to expand and the job of pampering owners becomes more competitive. For example, industry leader Executive Jet Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company, plans to release its proprietary IntelliJet II later this month. Loaded with about 1.5 million lines of computer code—rough- ly triple the number used by Intellijet I—it's expected to handle the future growth requirements of the NetJets fractional program, up to around 1,000 aircraft; Netjets now manages 370 aircraft, with 575 more on order.
