The ntsb should immediately call for a fast-track implementation of terrorist countermeasures and deterrents for commercial aircraft. In other words, tell Boeing, the FAA, International Air Transport Assn., airlines and the Air Line Pilots Assn. (ALPA) to not negotiate with them. For example, implement the much-discussed cockpit video camera and recording system that has been opposed by the airlines, FAA and ALPA. I would go a step further and call for telemetry systems to be installed that would transmit the video, along with the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder data, for recording on the ground. Boeing and the Defense Dept. have spent millions of dollars on development and certification of such systems to support flight test of commercial and military aircraft, so it would seem this could be essentially "off-the-shelf."
