After centrifuge tests comparing the Libelle liquid-filled anti-g suit with their own anti-g ensemble, Swedish researchers have concluded that the Libelle suit is not adequate for use in 9g aircraft, such as the Gripen. The new report disputes earlier claims of 9g protection from Autoflug Libelle (the Swiss-German joint venture manufacturer), a number of aviation physiologists and German MiG-29 pilots (AW&ST Aug. 6, p. 60).
