摘要

Searching the ocean depths for flight data and cockpit voice recorders, or scouring a crash site in hopes of finding units, could be a thing of the past if aircraft carried deployable recorders. For years, some military aircraft have carried recorders with frangible attachments, designed to pop free of the aircraft on impact or when immersed in water—but they haven't always done so. The DRS Co. concept is to have the recorder package separate in flight, so it falls to the ground away from the crash site or floats to the surface when an aircraft goes down in water.
