Ground tests conducted last month on board a NASA-owned Boeing 757 transport will lead to flight tests this summer of an image-capture system that could be used as a cockpit digital flight image recorder on commercial transports. Flights of the system using the Lo-FLYTE (low-observable flight test experiment) unmanned aerial vehicle are expected to get underway in late June or early July at Edwards AEB, Calif. The tests, which are expected to last about five weeks, should validate the technology associated with the camera system in operations on board a jet-powered aircraft.
