Eurofighter Typhoon partners face a potential double whammy in the export arena. The Typhoon is being unceremoniously dumped from the Singapore short list, to the surprise of British government and industry. Also looming on the horizon is the threat of competition in Saudi Arabia—viewed as a key export candidate. British industry and government were blind-sided by the Singaporean decision to ax the Typhoon, leaving a straight two-way fight between Dassault's Rafale and Boeing's F-15T. BAE Systems was the Typhoon industry lead for the competition. The decision was formally conveyed in a letter from the Singaporean Defense Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) to BAE on Apr. 15.
