摘要

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was the icon of strategic and precision bombing during WW Ⅱ, and it is perhaps the best known of all the heavy bombers to come out of that era. It was designed to be rugged, and it had the reputation of being able to bring its crew safely home even after suffering enough damage to completely destroy other aircraft. For a competition plane intended to be flown at scale events, the B-17 is not for the faint of heart. Being a multi-engine aircraft, there's a lot of work to be done in each of the engine nacelles and, of course, there's the retractable landing gear, the operable bomb bay doors, and the bomb drop mechanisms. Everything has to work properly, and it has to look right doing it. Few shortcuts can be taken with a building project of this magnitude.
