The Multiplex DogFighter makes a great... ahem ... dogfighter, and there is no better way to differentiate yours from the others than a custom paint job. As fantastic as Elapor is, it can be a little bit of a challenge to paint. Multiplex offers a foam prep and specially formulated spray paint, but it's not yet available in the U.S. There are several techniques to prepping and painting Elapor. To remove the mold release from the surface I've had good luck with acetone (sparingly). Of the many paints I have tried, standard Krylon has given me the best overall results. It dries quickly and is easy to touch up. The key with the paint is to use the thinnest coat possible to reduce surface cracking due to the flexible substrate. Keeping the design simple is a good idea since almost any type of masking will cause the paint to lift off at least in some parts. For better adhesion, albeit more weight, you can use a thin coat of automotive primer. Make sure to do all this in a very well-ventilated area since the fumes aren't the best for your health.
