The full-scale Shoestring was Rodney Kreimendahl's design and is an icon that won many races during its Golden Age career. The plane's name seems to have been suggested by Mr. Kreimendahl's wife and was based on the fact that this airplane was planned and built on a "shoestring" budget. Constructed from balsa, lite-ply, prepainted fiberglass and covered in MonoKote, the Great Planes Shoestring is an attractive piece of eye candy. High-quality hardware is used throughout, and the fully sheeted, foam-core wings are easily removed for transport. A carbon-fiber wing joiner is included and is a nice touch. Scale-looking fiberglass wheel pants and main gear are backed up with a steerable tailwheel. Also in the kit are a fuel tank, motor mount, spinner, fiberglass cowl and a large removable hatch that even includes a prepainted pilot!
