摘要

Bob Aberle is a well-known and respected RC modeler with a life-long modeling history. A master craftsman and model designer, he has been at the very forefront of electric power development for RC. An energetic supporter of the smaller and simpler backyard and park flyer movement, Bob also wrote the book Getting Stinted in Backyard Flying available at rcstore.com. We caught up with our buddy recently and chatted with him. Here's what he had to say. BACKYARD FLYER: Bob, it's great that you've developed your new Pilatus Porter to use recycled, indoor RC radio and power equipment. What made you decide on this particular aircraft for your project? BOB ABERLE: My choice for the Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter, which has been around for many years flying off of land, snow, and water, was because of the full-size aircraft's power system. Having a turbo (prop jet) engine, the Porter ends up with quite a long nose moment. This made it perfect for micro RC application because the motor and battery pack are so light. It might have proved difficult to balance the aircraft properly if it had a shorter nose.
