The Curtiss Aircraft Company was the first to produce an American fighter that could fly in excess of 300mph. Their heavily-armored and Allison-powered P-40 Warhawk is well-known for its high-speed capabilities and for its extremely durable service during WW II. Best known for flying these fighters are the legendary airmen who banded together and formed the American Volunteer Group. This assembly of ace pilots detailed the front of their P-40s with the familiar shark's teeth insignia and went on to become known as the Flying Tigers. Armed only with short-range guns and pilot skill, one can only imagine the thrill of being in the cockpit chasing down those aimlessly annoying Zeros. Thanks to this lightweight replica ARF from Thunder Tiger, we get to relive those dogfights at the local park.
